Police in Juja, Kiambu County, have launched investigations into the murder of a 49 year-old woman whose decomposing body was discovered inside her rented apartment at Biashara area.
The victim, identified as Nadia Njeri Ndung’u, was found dead on Monday night after her sister, Lilian Wangari Ndungu, accompanied by a caretaker from G&G Residence Apartments, visited her house following concerns over a foul smell emanating from the premises.
Officers from Theta Police Station, together with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) personnel from Juja, responded to the report and found the woman’s naked body lying on a mattress inside the one bedroom house.
Police said the body was already decomposing and had visible stab wounds on the head and neck.
Bloodstains were found on the bedding, while the victim had bled from the mouth and nose.
A blood stained kitchen knife believed to be the murder weapon was recovered beside the body.
Investigators also found the room in disarray, suggesting that a struggle may have taken place before the killing.
Preliminary investigations established that the deceased had been living with a man identified only as Derrick, who is now missing and whose mobile phone has reportedly been switched off.
Police have launched a search for him to assist with investigations.
Police further established that the deceased’s husband, identified as Ibrahim Ali Sonali Ali Yousif, a Saudi Arabian citizen, had travelled back to Saudi Arabia on July 19.
Crime scene experts documented and processed the scene before the body was moved to Kenyatta University Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.
