Police in Kisii County have launched investigations into an alleged gang rape incident reported at Gesonso Police Station involving a 22 year-old woman who claimed she was raped by two men after meeting one of them through an online dating platform.
According to the police report, the victim, identified as PWM,a resident of Oyugis, reported that she had met a man identified as Joel on an online dating site known as “Tagged” several weeks ago before the two agreed to meet in Kisii Town.
Police said the suspect allegedly sent the complainant Sh200 for transport before she travelled to Kisii on the night of May 25.
The woman told investigators that upon arrival in Kisii Town atl around 8:30pm, she was picked up by Joel, who was riding a motorcycle accompanied by another man.
The trio reportedly rode to an unknown destination later identified as Jomka Estate in Nyamokenye Village within Kisii South.
She alleged that immediately after entering a single room house, the second suspect locked the door, switched off the lights and threatened her against screaming.
She further claimed that the two men sexually assaulted her in turns without protection before she lost consciousness.
According to the report, she later regained consciousness and found one suspect had already left while the other was lying beside her.
She managed to place a distress call through the emergency line 1195, prompting a response from officers attached to Gesonso Police Station.
Police officers who visited the scene reportedly found the victim together with the landlord, while one suspect allegedly escaped by jumping over a fence upon noticing the officers’ arrival.
Police recovered several items at the scene, including a national identity card belonging to one Zablon Ochoro Makori, a job identification card, an Infinix mobile phone and a group photograph believed to feature the two suspects.
The complainant was treated at Iyabe Hospital and later discharged.
The case remains under investigation by officers from the DCIO Suneka office as detectives pursue the suspects.
