A female teacher gang raped while two of her colleagues sustained serious injuries after they were ambushed by armed assailants in Rachuonyo East, Homa Bay County.
According to a police report, the three teachers from Wangapala High School were riding home on a motorcycle from Bliss Resort in Kadongo at about 11.45pm on Monday, August 3, when they were attacked at Wangapala Junction.
Police said two men armed with clubs blocked the motorcycle, causing the rider to lose control and crash before the attackers assaulted the victims.
One of the teachers, Rawlings Otieno Awinda, suffered a deep cut to the head and was treated at Queen Rivers Hospital before being discharged in stable condition.
The rider, Enock Ariga Mamboleo, a 29-year-old teacher on teaching practice at the school, sustained serious head injuries and was admitted to Kisii Level 5 Hospital.
The attackers dragged the female teacher into a nearby forest where she was repeatedly sexually assaulted before fleeing.
She was treated at Othoro Level 4 Hospital and later discharged.
Police officers visited the scene, documented evidence and launched investigations.
Detectives from the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Office (SCCIO) in Rachuonyo East are pursuing the suspects, who remain at large.
The case is under investigation.
