A man aged 47 has been arrested in Yatta,Kitui County over alleged rape of a 28 year old woman living with a mental disability.
The incident was reported at Nthongoni Police Post under Kiusyani Police Station in Lower Yatta after the victim’s grandmother alerted police.
According to the police report, the suspect David Mutie Mulinge is said to have lured the woman JMM into his house on the night of July 24 at around 10 p.m. where he is accused of raping her multiple times.
The victim was later taken to Kanyangi Level 4 Hospital by her grandmother for treatment and was advised to report the matter to the police.
The case was officially reported on July 28, leading to the immediate arrest of the suspect.
Police said the victim has since been referred to Kitui General Hospital for further medical examination as investigations continue.
The suspect remains in police custody and is expected to be arraigned in court.
