A police officer attached to Highrise Police Post in Lang’ata,Nairobi is reportedly stranded at Nairobi West Hospital over an unpaid medical bill exceeding Sh230,000.
The officer was admitted at the hospital following a serious injury sustained in March.
The officer of a rank of a Corporal suffered a fracture after falling on March this year.
He was admitted to the Hospital,however report states that although the officer was officially discharged on May 7, he has not been allowed to leave the hospital due to an outstanding medical bill amounting to Sh230,490.19.
Sources who sought anonymity for the story indicated that the officer exhausted the inpatient medical cover allocated to him during his prolonged hospitalization.
A request for ex-gratia intervention has now been made to facilitate additional medical funding to enable continued treatment and settlement of the pending hospital bill.
The report regrading the matter in our possession notes that additional medical clarification can be obtained directly from Nairobi West Hospital.
Efforts to get a comment from the hospital or police was futile.
