A police sergeant attached to Subuiga Police Station in Buuri West, Meru County has been found dead in bushes at Kagira area within Kabete, Kiambu County, in a suspected murder incident.
The deceased, identified as Sergeant Gladys Nyaguthе Kirika, 46, was discovered after a person reportedly informed police that he had killed his wife and dumped her body in the bushes.
According to the police report, officers from Kabete Police Station responded to the information and mounted a search in the Kagira area, where they recovered the body.
The body had visible injuries to the head, suspected to have been inflicted with a blunt object.
There were also injuries on the left hand, while marks on the legs were suspected to have resulted from tight binding with a rope.
Police recovered a hammer and a Maasai sword, which were preserved as exhibits as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death commenced.
A search of the body led to the recovery of identification documents, including a Certificate of Appointment (COA), which established that the deceased was a serving police officer attached to Subuiga Police Station.
Scene-of-crime personnel processed the scene before the body was moved to PCEA Kikuyu Funeral Home, where it was booked pending a post mortem examination.
The case has been booked as a murder inquiry, with the Divisional Crime Office, Dagoretti, handling investigations.
Police are expected to establish the circumstances leading to the officer’s death.
