Police in Mathioya,Murang’a unty, Murang’a county are investigating the death of an epileptic woman whose body was discovered today morning, in a case being treated as a suspected rape and murder.
The victim who hails from Gakurwe Village, was found dead at Keni Village and her body was discovered lying naked with clothes covering the head.
Officers from Kamacharia Police Station and detectives from DCI Mathioya who visited the scene recovered the deceased’s undergarment and a shoe about 100 metres from where the body was found.
The woman was identified by her brother, James Kariuki, who informed investigators that she had suffered from epilepsy since childhood.
Preliminary observations indicated that soil had been stuffed into her mouth, although no visible external injuries were noted on the body.
The body was transferred to Kiriaini Mission Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death.
