A 23 year old woman is receiving treatment at Garissa Provincial Referral Hospital after being gang raped by four men in an incident reported on Friday.
According to a report recorded at Iftin Police Statio, the victim identified as MDG told police that she had left her home in the Dekaboury area at around 10:00 a.m. to collect a parcel she believed had been sent by an online boyfriend.
She alleged that upon arriving at Baraka Bazaar along Kismayu Road, she was approached by several women who persuaded her to board a waiting Toyota Probox vehicle.
The vehicle reportedly drove to the Badaas Lagga area in Waberi West Location, where four young men joined the group.
She further claimed that she was given a soft drink that caused her to become dizzy before the men sexually assaulted her.
The victim informed investigators that the women remained at the scene during the incident.
She was later taken to Garissa Provincial Referral Hospital for medical examination and treatment.
Police have launched investigations into the incident and are pursuing leads to identify and arrest the suspects.
