A 23 year old woman is recovering in hospital after she was stabbed and nearly burned alive by her former boyfriend during a violent domestic dispute in Wataalam area, Ruiru,Kiambu County today.
According to a police report recorded at Wataalam Police Post, the victim, identified as Rachael Nekesa Loise reported that she was inside her rented single room house when her ex-boyfriend, Douglas Ouma Buluma, forcefully entered the premises.
Buluma allegedly poured paraffin on both the victim and inside the house before lighting a gas cooker and threatening that they would die together in the burning room.
The house subsequently caught fire.
Police said the suspect then armed himself with a kitchen knife, stabbed the woman in the abdomen below the ribs.
Her screams attracted neighbours who rushed to the scene, rescued her and managed to extinguish the fire before it spread further.
The injured woman immediately reported the incident at Wataalam Police Post.
Buluma reportedly followed her to the station, where he was arrested by police officers, searched and placed in custody.
The victim was rushed to Ruiru Level 4 Hospital for treatment after sustaining a visible stab wound and burn injuries to the abdomen.
Police officers visited the scene and documented the incident.
Investigations are ongoing, with officers from Ruiru handling the case as they prepare further action against the suspect.
