A 25 year old woman was stabbed to death on Thursday evening along Kirichwa Road in Nairobi’s Kilimani area in what police have attributed it to a troubled relationship.

Police at Kilimani Police Station have confirmed to the DNK-International that the deceased, identified as Ann Keya Auna, was attacked just outside Ninti Clinic based at Alma Towers.

Police say the incident was reported by Yusuf Gulled, the proprietor of the clinic, who alerted officers after a man armed with a knife allegedly stabbed the woman multiple times.

Responding officers found Ann lying in a pool of blood with severe stab wounds on her neck, chest, back, and hands.

Beside her was the suspect, identified as Newton Ambeyi, 27, who had reportedly been restrained by members of the public and was unconscious with blood stains on his body.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased and the suspect were employees and agents of Dreamlife Money Lending Microfinance located along Ngong Road.

Detectives established that the two had allegedly been in a strained and toxic romantic relationship and had recently separated after living together in Kawangware.

Police further revealed that the deceased had resigned from her workplace on May 9, reportedly due to issues involving the suspect, before returning on May 13 seeking reinstatement.

Their supervisor is said to have attempted to reconcile the pair earlier on Thursday before the fatal attack occurred later in the evening.

Witnesses told investigators that Ann was walking home with a friend, Elizabeth Segerger, at around 6:40pm when the suspect allegedly emerged from behind armed with a knife and attacked her repeatedly.

She reportedly attempted to flee towards the clinic before collapsing and dying from her injuries.

Detectives recovered a broken knife believed to be the murder weapon at the scene.

Crime Scene Investigation officers processed the area before the body was moved to City Mortuary awaiting autopsy.

The suspect was admitted to The Nairobi Women’s Hospital under police guard as investigations continue.

Police have launched a full probe into the incident.
